Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Turkish Language Pack

At last, I found the URL of the Turkish Language Pack of WSS 3.0. I changed the end of the http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=36ee1bf0-652c-4e38-b247-f29b3eefa048&displayLang=en URL to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/thankyou.aspx?familyId=36ee1bf0-652c-4e38-b247-f29b3eefa048&displayLang=tr , and that's it :P

File Stream data type in SQL Server 2008 and SharePoint

SQL Server 2008 bir çok yeniliği beraberinde getiriyor bildiğiniz üzere. Bu özelliklerden önplana çıkan birtanesi de File Stream ismindeki yeni veri tipi. Bu veri tipini SQL Server üzerinde dosya bulundurmak istediğimizde kullanıyor olacağız.

Performans nedeni ile yazılım geliştiriciler veritabanında dosya bulundurmayı çok tercih etmezler. File Stream veri tipi, SQL Server'a eklemek istediğimiz dosyaları fiziksel klasörlerde tutmaya yarayan, ancak dosyayı yine SQL Server üzerinden sorgu çalıştırarak alabilmemizi sağlayan bir veri tipi.

SharePoint ürünü de döküman yönetim sistemi modülünde dosyaları SQL Server üzerinde tutuyor. Dolayısıyla, SQL Server 2008'in file stream veri tipi bizlere performans noktasında çok fayda sağlayacak. Ancak, bu veri tipi ile SharePoint'in çalışabilmesi için SharePoint'in yeni versiyonunu beklememiz gerekecek. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 ve Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 ürünlerinin herhangi bir service pack ya da yaması ile dosyaların tutulma şeklinin değiştirilmesi maalesef söz konusu olmayacak.

Wanna move your Lotus workflows to MOSS 2007?

The Microsoft Transporter Suite tool is released on 25th January.

This tool migrates the Lotus Domino workflows to MOSS 2007, and at the same time if you have Lotus Domino mail servers or any POP/IMAP mail server, you can migrate these mail servers to Exchange 2007.

I wish I could get a Lotus Domino customer to try this tool immediately.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007: Administrator's Companion is a very comprehensive resource for most MOSS 2007 administrators. It has detailed guidance on analyze, design, implement phases of MOSS 2007 deployment and it also helps with MOM, WF etc. integration.
